My journey into vacation rentals began before Airbnb or VRBO were household names — back when Craigslist was the way to advertise a place for rent!
In 2008, I met my husband, and that moment marked the beginning of not just a new relationship, but a new chapter in my life. As our relationship grew, so did our dreams, and before long, we decided to combine households.
That meant one of our homes was suddenly available… I decided to make a Craigslist ad for a long-term rental.
Then everything changed with one simple question from a prospective renter who responded to my Craigslist ad: “Would you consider renting your home to us furnished for the winter?”
What began as a one-time opportunity quickly revealed something more: a genuine need for comfortable, well-appointed furnished homes for seasonal guests, traveling nurses, displaced and relocating families.
Since then, life has taken us on an adventure — from Arizona to Denver, then during COVID, we were off to North and South Carolina for a short stint, and now to our current home on the Big Island of Hawaii. Still, Arizona is where it all started, and it continues to hold a very special place in our lives.
Over time, I discovered just how much joy and fulfillment I got from hosting guests. I’ve loved connecting with people from all over the country, hearing their stories, and even forming lasting friendships with some of them. It’s been incredibly meaningful for me to know that my home has been part of so many important moments — from vacations and relocations to family reunions, weddings, and even helping people through difficult times like fire or water damage.
During COVID, we fully transitioned both of my long-term rental properties into thoughtfully furnished vacation homes, designed with care, comfort, and a personal touch. Creating these welcoming spaces has become more than just a passion — it’s a way to share warmth and hospitality with others, one stay at a time.
Having the three furnished rentals gives us the chance to come back every couple of months, not just to visit family and friends, but also to personally care for and maintain our properties. We take great pride in keeping our homes warm, welcoming, and well-maintained for every guest.
When we’re in Oro Valley, we soak up everything we love about it: the gorgeous desert weather, the peaceful energy, beautiful sunsets, and of course, the amazing biking trails. These homes aren’t just rentals to us — they’re part of our story, our lifestyle, and a place we truly love to return to.
